The Holidays

Christmas at Cinderella Castle

Well, its hard to believe the holidays are over and time to put all the Christmas decorations away. I would like to share with you what I did over the holidays. My husband and I decided that we would do something different this year so we went to Disney World, Bush Gardens, and St. Augustine.

On Christmas Day, my husband and I went to Disney World. If you have never been during the holidays you should go because it is something to see, especially the lights on Main Street, and Cinderella Castle is beautiful in the evening. We were not able to get on many rides during the day because there were so many people. However, around ten that evening we were finally able to get on some of the rides. All in all, we had a great day and evening in the Magic Kingdom.

Ice Skating in Tampa?

Our next adventure, a few days later, was Bush Gardens. We had a chance to see four Christmas shows that were all fabulous and included a lot of talent. The ice skating show was my personal favorite. Again, we were not able to get on many of the rides due to the large crowds but the entertainment made up for it.

"Nights of Lights" - St. Augustine, FL

Our final stop was St.Augustine, Florida – the “oldest city.” During the holidays, St.Augustine decorates the town square with lights and celebrate the “Nights of Lights” which is really something to see. We had lunch in the Columbia restaurant which was really good and everyone was so nice. After lunch, we did some shopping on St. George street which offered anything you could possibly want.

I hope that each of you had a really great Christmas and Happy New Year!

Thrift Shopping Adventure!

The other day my husband and I made a list of all the thrift stores in town to see what treasures we could find. I can remember years back how cheap thrift stores were but that’s not so true today. Looking at some of the prices, I said to myself “they must be really proud of these items”. We found out through some conversation with one of the clerks that today’s thrift stores are looking up the value of the items on the internet. This lessens the possibility of getting a real bargain. When returning from our adventure I had a chance to look up some of the items that I came across and you could buy the item online for what they were wanting in the store.

Vintage Patterns and Box

I was able to find a small treasure at the last store on our list. My husband pointed out a vintage pattern box that was full of old patterns. The old patterns were in a booklet which I thought was kind of neat.
