Thought I would share one of my favorite Lasagna Recipes with you. Some of you may remember a while back I posted a spaghetti sauce which has no meat added. Today I made the sauce and we are going to have Lasagna for dinner this evening. I really like the spaghetti sauce because it is light tasting and not heavy.
- large white onions ( chopped)
- 3 cans diced tomato ( with garlic)
- 2 cans tomato sauce
- 1 can tomato paste
- 3 bay leaf
- 1 tsp oregano
- 1 tsp sweet basil
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- box of lasagna noodles
- ricotta cheese
- mozzarella cheese
In a large saucepan add olive oil and chopped onions, cook on low heat until the onions become transparent. Next, you will add the next six ingredients and mix well. Simmer for about 2 hours to bring the flavors together.
In a 9×13 baking dish ,add a little sauce to the bottom of dish. Next, add lasagna noodles, sauce, ricotta, mozzarella cheese and repeat layers, ending with sauce and then cheese. Bake for about 60 to 65 minutes at 350 degrees.
Note: I use the no boiling lasagna noodles because it is a thinner noodle then regular. The spaghetti sauce is light!
